I love to knit and also to draw, I have knitted since I was small, taught by my Nana when I was 5. I won many competition prizes when I was young for drawing and always won the Barclays Bank Christmas Card design competition EVERY year, a £2 credit to my account was my reward. I went on to study at Kent Institute of Art and Design and then to gain a degree in television and film graphic design at Humberside University. I now work full time at the BBC in Glasgow as broadcast designer working on shows such as the One Show, Take Me Out and Panorama.
I set up an Etsy shop>> when I was on my maternity leave inspired heavily by my Grandad, who collected anything and everything, I still have a huge tin of odd beads collected by him over many years from the streets of East London, he was a collator of anything interesting and hated anything to go to waste. My favourite toy when I was small was a rubber doll from the 1940’s called Pat, he had picked me up at a jumble sale. I have obviously inherited his treasure hunting gene and love scouring the land for anything interesting. I always wear vintage clothes and much prefer to repair, restore and repurpose, than buy new things.
At first I stocked my shop with a few cool vintage items I had discovered locally whilst out and about with my new baby. Recently I have started to introduce some of my extensive collection of vintage clothes, shoes and accessories, some of which I have had since I was a teenager.
I have since opened a second Etsy shop>> for my hand drawn items. It’s stocked with badges, cards and pocket mirrors and I am working hard to get it nice and full.
I share a studio in Glasgow’s Hidden Lane with 3 other designer makers, Lady Shinjuku, Squinty Stuff and my new balcony buddy Neil Slorance . We have a small gift shop selling our work and our studio is called Studio Number One
I am also the team captain of the Glasgow Etsy Team, we have organised Etsy Made Local at the Briggait for the past 3 years, and are currently working on this years plans.
I was born in East London, grew up mostly in Kent and now live in Partick, Glasgow with my boyfriend, our 8 year daughter and 2 fat cats Szerman and Mini.
